I'm late with my photo today (late for me, not for the rest of you!). Since it's almost 1.00am here in the east of the great southern land, I must bid you goodnight and postpone my pleasure in looking at all your BEAUTIFUL MM photos until tomorrow (which is already today). HMM to you all!
The fledgling robin jumped from its nest for the first time and landed on our deck railing as seen in my recent post "Restrictions Lifted". The next stop was our window ledge where Maggie greeted him. The baby bird's Dad was below squawking at him to get down. I'm certain he was giving him his first life lesson - "stay away from cats!"

Nachts soll die Fassade angestrahlt werden. Von oben sehen die drei Gebäudeteile mit ihren fünf beziehungsweise sechs Geschossen wie drei riesige „U“ aus. Sie gruppieren sich um das Herzstück, das 200 Quadratmeter große Sommerfoyer im Innenhof. Wichtig wird auch der Konferenzbereich, der Platz für interne und externe Veranstaltungen mit bis zu 600 Teilnehmern bietet. Die Mitarbeiter können neben ihren Büros auch „Meeting Points“ in den breiten Fluren nutzen, um sich auszutauschen und Besprechungen abzuhalten. Das Ziel: Eine offene Bürostruktur, die sich positiv auf die Arbeitszufriedenheit auswirken soll. Den Umzug werden die Mitarbeiter mit leichtem Möbel-Gepäck antreten. Weil es im Neubau auch neue – ergonomisch höhenverstellbare – Tische und Schränke gibt, wandern nur Bürosessel in die Umzugswagen. Tillmann Stenger nimmt ein einziges Stück mit: Einen Karl-Marx-Kopf, den er von seinem Vorgänger übernommen und ins Eck gestellt hatte. Jetzt darf der Kapitalismuskritiker mit übersiedeln."

The image you see is actually three separate images woven together using Photoshop cs5. Ones of a beautiful beach near my old home, the other my new home, the city (the other is the star trail). The image portrays two different worlds and two different homes to me.

My junk might be someone else's treasure. Still, this thing here is definitely junk which I must have kept "just in case". It is a spring fastener or cord lock, I had to look that up. I did not know what these things were called. I put two small ribbons through the hole, just so it doesn't look so clinical.

Pisac is perhaps best known for its Incan ruins, known as Inca Písac, which lie atop a hill at the entrance to the valley. The ruins are separated along the ridge into four groups: P'isaqa, Inti Watana, Qalla Q'asa, and Kinchiraqay.[3] Inti Watana group includes the Temple of the Sun, baths, altars, water fountains, a ceremonial platform, and an inti watana, a volcanic outcrop carved into a "hitching post for the Sun" (or Inti). The angles of its base suggest that it served to define the changes of the seasons.[4] Qalla Q'asa, which is built onto a natural spur and overlooks the valley, is known as the citadel. (Wikipedia)

Another defining feature of Central Park's sustainability is a cantilevered heliostat, pictured here. Suspended from the 28th floor of One Central Park's east tower, it serves not only as a predominant design element to the building but as a way of reflecting light to the gardens and atrium below. It operates through a series of motorised mirrors that are positioned 100 metres below the cantilever on the rooftop of the west tower.
Daylight is automatically tracked from these mirrors and the light is reflected up to the cantilever. 220 fixed reflecting panels are positioned across the underbelly of the cantilever and are able to then bounce light throughout the retail atrium, pedestrian corridor, pool terrace and communal areas. On the upper side of the cantilever a sky garden has been erected. At night the cantilever is transformed into an LED light display.
Defined as one of the best artistic productions of 13th century Catalan architecture and, by extension, of European medieval architecture, the Seu Vella is a singular cathedral that leaves no one indifferent. Its architecture shares the limelight with high quality carvings that are preserved in capitals, cornices, corbels, portals, etc. The substantial remains of preserved mural paintings or the chapels built by prominent families or distinguished church members are a reflection of a prestigious building with a splendid past.

Xàtiva is a city in the Spanish province of Valencia and is the birthplace of two popes. Xàtiva is the Valencian name for this city, but in Castellano this city is called 'Jativa'. This city is located in a beautiful area of hills, vineyards, orange groves and cypress trees on the northern slopes of Monte Vernissa, a two-peaked hill topped by the castle of Xativa. This castle consists of a double fortification divided between the older "Castillo Menor" small castle, built on the Iberian and Roman remains of the site, and the more recent "Castillo Mayor" main castle, built during the Middle Ages. It is located at an altitude of 310 meters above the modern city. The walls mainly date from the period during the Arab occupation. The fortress is strategically located on the ancient Via Augusta road that leads from Rome over the Pyrenees and along the Mediterranean coast to Cartagena and Cádiz. Although the town has expanded in recent years, there are still many old quarters and beautiful medieval monuments to be found. It really is such a small town that you can enjoy as a Spain lover!
One of the most beautiful towns in Spain, Xàtiva is defined by its delicious gastronomy, fascinating history and beautiful naturescapes. The Xàtiva castle is divided into two zones, the so-called Castillo Menor and Castillo Mayor. While the first is pre-Roman, Iberian and Carthaginian, the second is a Latin foundation. The importance of the Xativa Castle lies in its strategic location, being near the Via Augusta, the Roman road crossing all of Hispania Province from Cadiz via Cartagena, on the Mediterranean coast, through the Pyrenees and ending in Rome. The castle therefore had the function of monitoring and protecting the Roman road. Currently, the Castle is a site of Valencian heritage and is managed by the city of Xativa.
Xàtiva is een stad in de Spaanse provincie Valencia en is de geboorteplaats van twee pausen. Xàtiva is de Valenciaanse benaming voor deze stad, maar in Castellano wordt deze stad ‘Jativa’ genoemd. Dit stadje is gelegen in een mooie omgeving van heuvels, wijngaarden, sinaasappelbomen en cipressen op de noordelijke hellingen van de Monte Vernissa, een heuvel met twee toppen die wordt bekroond door het kasteel van Xativa. Het kasteel bestaat uit een dubbele fortificatie die is verdeeld tussen het oudere "Castillo Menor" klein kasteel, gebouwd op de Iberische en Romeinse overblijfselen van de site, en het meer recente "Castillo Mayor" hoofdkasteel, gebouwd tijdens de middeleeuwen. Het bevindt zich op een hoogte van 310 meter boven de moderne stad. De ommuring dateert vooral uit de periode ten tijde van de Arabische bezetting. Het fort is strategisch gelegen aan de oude weg Via Augusta die van Rome over de Pyreneeën en langs de Middellandse Zeekust naar Cartagena en Cádiz leidt. Het stadje is afgelopen jaren weliswaar uitgebreid maar er zijn nog heel wat oude wijken en mooie middeleeuwse monumenten te vinden. Het is echt zo'n klein stadje waar je als Spanjeliefhebber van kan genieten!
